   I became engaged over Christmas. We are planning an October, 2011 wedding. Are there items that are important to put on a registry? Did you ever put items on the registry that you've never used? It all seems so overwhelming! Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

   I think choosing a registry is a very personal decision. If you are living with the person you are going to marry, you may already have many of the standard registry items. It is important to consider practicality when choosing items, too. Don't add an item to the registry that you may rarely use, like an ice cream maker, for example.

   I would say more everyday items likes lamps, good pots and pans, kitchen appliances, and good dinnerware but not necessarily china. No sense in getting items you would hardly every use.

   I really like the honeymoon registry websites! Your guests can contribute to your vacation by purchasing massages, dinners, wine, etc for the couple to enjoy.
